Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, established under the KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Management Act No. 9 of 1997, is mandated to conserve biodiversity, manage protected areas, and promote sustainable ecotourism across KwaZulu-Natal. That mandate is anchored in both national and provincial environmental legislation, including the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act (57 of 2003) and the National Biodiversity Act (10 of 2004).
Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife offers immersive experiences in pristine landscapes. Every visit supports conservation and community development.
KwaZulu-Natal is home to breathtaking landscapes that offer the perfect escape for every kind of adventurer. Whether you seek the serenity of the beach, the majesty of the mountains, the thrill of the bush, or the tranquility of the dam, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has the perfect destination for you.

visit this parkEzemvelo manages 92 protected areas for the province: 65 open for day visits, 32 with overnight accommodation, and 17 held for conservation access only. They range from the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site to the coastal reserves, marine protected areas and inland wetlands, and are recorded in the ecologist-checked protected-area register that drives the park finder.
Every pin is a protected area with a page on this site — select one to open it. Colours follow the key. Use the park finder for the complete, filterable register.
The KwaZulu-Natal State of Biodiversity Report (2021) evaluated 58 targets across 28 biodiversity indicators. We publish the findings in full — including where the province is falling short — because transparency is part of the conservation mandate.
